Our donations have paid for a new bathroom, new wiring for the kitchen, and new dormitory showers. The orphanage is in need of many renovations, including a new gym, food storage areas, toilet facilities at the summer camp, and playground equipment. Each summer, our volunteers visit the orphanage to see what can be done. In addition, Tilsit Orphan Education Fund is seeking sponsors for children studying in vocational school or college.

The head administrator at this orphanage grew up in an orphanage herself. Because of this, she clearly understands the obstacles these children must overcome to be successful adults. Our mission is to help provide better facilities as they grow up, as well as the necessary financial and emotional support when they leave the orphanage and go out on their own.
In 2007, half of the dormitory showers were renovated. Donations in 2008 paid for toilets at the summer camp, a major improvement in sanitary conditions. In the coming year, we hope to help renovate the remaining showers.
